Indian companies, welcome to Utrecht!

For those who have already set up offices in our province: thank you for choosing Utrecht for your European operations! For all the other Indian companies: I extend my warm welcome to you to come and see the opportunities Utrecht offers.

I would like to name three unique selling points of our region:  

1. It is widely recognized that our province has the highest share of university educated citizens in the country.
For Indian companies this abundance of high quality employees means many opportunities in R&D and hi-tech facilities set-up. Besides, Utrecht’s strong position as home to Utrecht University and its expertise in leveraging academic expertise to benefit industry can help Indian companies immensely.  We have seen a growing number of Indian companies choosing to locate in Utrecht owing to favourable linkages with companies in our strength areas, like life sciences and ICT. This is an opportunity for Indian companies either with a focus on biosciences and biotechnology or in ICT to seek affiliations or customers in Europe, using Utrecht as a strong home ground.  Utrecht’s strong position in the ICT industry will continue to attract knowledge workers from India and we hope to have a growing community of Indians in the province over the years.

2. Since Utrecht is centrally located within the Netherlands with strong transport links, it is an ideal base to reach out to continental Europe.
The convenient location, with excellent connections to the European market and the competitive real estate prices, has already attracted about 900 foreign companies to the region. Industries that thrive in Utrecht include ICT, Gaming and Life Sciences. Innovative companies such as Yokogawa, Oracle, Danone Research, Genmab and Nintendo are all located in the Utrecht province. Also due to its central location, Utrecht is well known as a strong services hub. With nearly 82 percent of the jobs in the service sector, Utrecht offers an ideal business environment for a services company.  

3. Last but not least, Utrecht is known to be a pleasant, beautiful, inexpensive and vibrant place to live, work and recreate in.
