February 2009

The Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM) or the Brabant Development Society, along with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), organized an executive forum in Bangalore to invite Indian IT and product design firms to invest in Brabant, The Netherlands, referred to as Europe's Heart of High Tech Solutions. The forum had several notable Dutch business names as speakers to highlight the regions' unique advantages. Brabant is the most intensive R&D region in the Netherlands, with 17,000 people engaged in it, and ranks first in the number of high-tech patents. Brabant offers Indian firms access to new markets, technologies and partners in Western Europe and the advantages of a qualified labour pool, renowned research institutes and universities and available test facilities.
Mr. Robert V Schipper, Executive Director, NFIA India, said that given the slowdown, the time is right for Indian companies to take advantage and establish their presence in the Netherlands.
