Why the Netherlands

Easy access to European markets

Located at the heart of the three largest economies in Europe—Germany, the United Kingdom and France—the Netherlands gives you easy access, not only to markets in Europe, but also in the Middle East and Africa. The country is within a 400-mile radius of half of Europe's major markets and the country’s transport infrastructure has a big role to play. Based on multiple factors like quality of roads, railroads, ports and air transport, energy infrastructure and costs, the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2007, ranked the Netherlands number six.

Business-friendly visa procedures

The companies that have subsidiaries or branches in the Netherlands, whose employees have to travel to the Netherlands frequently, can, at the recommendation of the NFIA, avail of the Orange Carpet visa facilities.

Companies that want to send their Indian and non-EU citizens to their subsidiary in the Netherlands can, with the NFIA as an intermediary, avail of the Knowledge Migrant scheme. The scheme offers an expedited procedure for obtaining a combined residence and work permit, which takes approximately one month.

Favourable tax climate

The Netherlands offers an internationally oriented tax regime, helping businesses conduct cross-border trade without incurring double taxation. The benefits of this equitable regime are extended to non-Dutch businesses as well and create an overall favourable environment for international business.

English-speaking society

If you speak English, the Netherlands is an easy place for you to work and stay in. If you come with your family, it is easy to settle them in because in no other country of Europe of the people speak English. The literacy rate in the country is 99 percent and 87 percent of the population speaks English. In fact, more than 90 percent of the total population can participate in a conversation in a language other than their mother tongue.

International business environment

In the Netherlands you are greeted with a pro-business environment that creates a gateway to Europe and helps international companies succeed across the continent. Look forward to a culture with an international outlook that is open to foreign investment. You will find a wealth of world-class business partners who know how to deal with global business challenges in today's economy.

Superior logistics

The Port of Rotterdam is the world's third largest seaport, while Schiphol Airport is recognised as one of the major business hubs in Europe, claiming over 100 international awards over the last couple of decades. Both these entry points don't just allow smooth human passage; they also act as convenient and well-equipped transit points for cargo of all magnitude and diversity—from flowers to heavy machines.

Excellent technology infrastructure

The Netherlands is classified as one of the most 'wired' countries in the world and a dynamic force in electronic commerce, communications and outsourcing. More than a decade of investment in high-speed Internet, cable and digital communication systems, as well as the rapid adoption of state-of-the-art computer and mobile phone technologies have created an ideal base for companies seeking to take advantage of modern technology.

High quality of life at affordable cost

The Netherlands is proud to have a high standard of living, while maintaining an affordable life for its residents. The costs of living, housing, education and cultural activities are lower than in most Western-European countries.
