Vayam TechnologiesLocation: Amsterdam A happening company needs a happening location!Vayam Technologies (formerly IBilt Technologies) has been providing end-to-end IT solutions across a range of large government and public sector projects since 2001. It has enjoyed a rapid expansion over the last couple of years and its 600 professionals, who serve international clients from the company's headquarters in New Delhi, have been joined by a small marketing and sales team in Amsterdam. Mr MJ Tiwari of Vayam explains why the company chose to open in Amsterdam. "Well, it is a very happening place," he enthuses, "our offices are in the World Trade Center in Amsterdam - that's the best place in Holland! Other economic factors include the fact that the tax regime is pretty good and, although it is a small country, the business opportunities are immense." Mr Tiwari believes that the Netherlands is a good location for any international company looking to do business in Europe. "It is a very well-organised place," he explains, "but also an interesting place that's a lot of fun. It's very open and free and the people are fantastic." Doing business the Dutch way"If there's a good reason to do it, we'll find a way," is how Mr Tiwari sums up the Dutch business philosophy. He enjoys working with this "can-do" attitude and has also observed other distinctive features of Dutch business culture. "They are very democratic," he comments, "which means it's not just the CEO you have to convince. They can also be very concerned about process with a tendency to micro-manage - but then this may be why Schiphol and Heathrow are worlds apart! " Was getting established in the Netherlands a hassle for Vayam? "Most of the pain was taken away by dealing with the NFIA," reflects Mr Tiwari, "they were extremely helpful at every stage. For example, they were able to sort out things like bank accounts and Dutch registration in just a day. They really are head and shoulders above the rest. They are so well organised and networked - fantastic." "When any CEO asks me about doing business in Europe I tell them that Holland is the place to be," Mr Tiwari says, "the Dutch have a lot going for them and the NFIA can make getting established there almost pain-free."
